“Not Me, But You” — Building a Stronger, More Inclusive Society

About
National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Government of India–sponsored public service program launched in 1969, with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of students through voluntary community service.

NSS provides students with opportunities to engage in meaningful social work such as community development, health and hygiene awareness, environmental protection, social justice initiatives, and national integration programs. Through regular activities and special camps, students gain hands-on experience in addressing real-world issues while fostering empathy, leadership, discipline, and teamwork.

The scheme aims to create socially responsible citizens who are sensitive to societal problems and committed to contributing positively to the nation.

“Not Me, But You”

The guiding philosophy of NSS — placing the needs of society and community above individual ambitions. By bridging the gap between academic learning and social realities, NSS plays a vital role in shaping youth into confident, service-oriented, and responsible individuals.

NSS at SIT Tumakuru

The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Siddaganga Institute of Technology is a vibrant platform that inspires students to serve society with commitment, compassion, and a strong sense of national responsibility. Guided by the core philosophy of selfless service, NSS at SIT plays a vital role in shaping socially aware and responsible citizens.

Our NSS unit actively engages students in a wide range of community-oriented and nation-building activities. NSS volunteers at SIT develop leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline, and empathy. The unit serves as a bridge between the institute and society, enabling students to learn beyond textbooks and contribute meaningfully to the nation.

NSS at SIT stands as a symbol of youth energy, social commitment, and the spirit of service — working together to build a healthier, stronger, and more inclusive society.
