National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Government of India–sponsored public service program launched in 1969, with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of students through voluntary community service.

NSS provides students with opportunities to engage in meaningful social work such as community development, health and hygiene awareness, environmental protection, social justice initiatives, and national integration programs. Through regular activities and special camps, students gain hands-on experience in addressing real-world issues while fostering empathy, leadership, discipline, and teamwork.

The scheme aims to create socially responsible citizens who are sensitive to societal problems and committed to contributing positively to the nation.

Our NSS unit actively engages students in a wide range of community-oriented and nation-building activities. NSS volunteers at SIT develop leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline, and empathy. The unit serves as a bridge between the institute and society, enabling students to learn beyond textbooks and contribute meaningfully to the nation.

NSS at SIT is not just a platform for community service, but a movement that nurtures socially responsible and committed individuals. Guided by the motto “Not Me, But You”, our volunteers actively engage in various outreach programs including rural development, environmental sustainability, health awareness, blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and social empowerment initiatives. We strive to create a positive impact on society while shaping responsible citizens.”

NSS enrollment is open at the beginning of each academic year. Students interested in volunteering and community service are encouraged to register through the NSS coordinator.
