Overview

The Department started functioning in the year 1999 with an intake of 40, offering bachelor degree in Information Science and Engineering. And the intake is enhanced to 60 in the year 2000 & 120 in the year 2022.

Department comprises of highly qualified and experienced teaching staff and research scholars, who are committed to excellence and always striving to bring out creativity and innovative methods in teaching.

Department also has experienced technical staff who help the students in understanding the latest technical aspects in a much simpler format. Department is consistently conducting activities like workshops, guest lectures, seminars for the purpose of knowledge up gradation of both staff and students. These activities also include exposure to cutting edge technologies which keeps our students in touch with latest developments in the field of Information Technology.

Department has well equipped laboratories housing state of the art equipment including computer systems with latest configurations, which are completely networked and latest software for applications and development areas.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) - UG

Graduates of the Information Science and Engineering program will:

  1. Pursue career as software engineer, project manager, data scientist, entrepreneur and pursue higher studies and research in Information Science and Engineering domains.
  2. Apply mathematical, scientific and Information Science and Engineering knowledge with multidisciplinary approaches to solve real world problems.
  3. Possess professionalism, ethical and societal responsibilities and engage in life-long learning through pursuit of skill development and certification courses in Information Science and Engineering.
Program Outcomes (POs) - UG

Graduates will be able to:

PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)

PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)

PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).

PO5: Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)

PO6: The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7).

PO7: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national & international laws. (WK9)

PO8: Individual and Collaborative Team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.

Information management: Apply tools and techniques for management of information system, data analysis and knowledge discovery in the process of decision making.

The Department has strong ties with leading IT companies, facilitating internships, live projects, and career placements. Graduates have secured roles in companies such as:

  • Around 85% of graduates secure placements in top tech companies, while 15% pursue higher studies or entrepreneurial ventures. Many alumni have advanced to global roles in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
