Overview
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1986 with an initial intake of 60 students, offering a Bachelor’s degree under Bangalore University. Over the years, the Department has steadily grown in recognition and strength with the present intake of 240. Currently, it offers three autonomous programs affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). In 2003, the Department established a VTU-recognized research center, further enhancing its academic and research capabilities. The Department is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty, and features well-equipped laboratories catering to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs. Renowned for its academic excellence and infrastructure, the Department is one of the top options for CET and COMED-K rank holders, and consistently achieving excellent placement records.

Infrastructure & Facilities
- The Department of CSE is well-equipped with fourteen laboratories for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs. The Department Laboratory Names are: Aryabhata Computer Centre, Linux Lab, Rohini Computer Centre, Bhaskara Computer Centre, Project Lab, M.Tech Lab, Research Lab, Abdul Kalam Lab, Kalpana Chawla Lab, Brahmagupta Lab, Param Lab, Airavat Lab, E-Learning Lab and Shakuntala Devi Lab. All the labs are furnished with high-performance desktop computers, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), and high-speed Internet connectivity to support development and deployment tasks. Each lab is configured with the latest software tools, compilers, IDEs, virtualization platforms, and simulation tools aligned with the curriculum and research needs.
- The Department is equipped with two high-performance NVIDIA L40 GPUs. These state-of-the-art GPUs significantly enhance the department’s computational capabilities, enabling advanced research in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and scientific computing. The facility supports both faculty-led research and student projects, providing a robust platform for experimentation, model training, and real-time simulation. With this infrastructure, students gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge hardware, fostering innovation and preparing them for future challenges in high-performance computing and AI-driven technologies.
- The laboratories are designed to facilitate hands-on learning, project development, innovation, and experimentation. Specialized labs for AI, machine learning, deep learning, IoT, Bigdata, full stack development, cybersecurity, HPC are equipped for open-source development, parallel computing, edge computing, and to solve real world applications. The Project Lab and Research Labs support mini-projects, final-year projects, and faculty-led research work.
- Periodic hardware and software upgrades ensure that the labs stay relevant to emerging technologies such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, cloud computing, full-stack development, and DevOps. The department also facilitates 24×7 lab access for research scholars and students working on industry-sponsored and consultancy projects.

Graduates will be able to:
PO1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)
PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)
PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).
PO5: Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)
